Today we had a perfect ride down highway 1. It was sort of like the great ocean road but with ALTITUDE. according to Rod's computer it was 108.7 km, 1467m climbing UP, 1529 descending. Time on bike 4 hrs 37 m.
We rode out of the Big Sur forest up a big hill which then presented a spectacular view of the pacific ocean.

The ocean was really blue. Next was lunch at Gorda. The traffic was quite busy with loads of motorbikes heading to Laguna Seca for the Us Moto GP but it wasn't too bad, in fact while we had to 'white line' it a bit today the drivers are always patient with cyclists as there were more than us riding the Pacific Bike Route. The road had a bit of damage from the spring rain so we had a few stops. Thanks to Krystal for taking this picture.

We then rode up a really long climb which spread the field, but due to his head start Goose was able to take the mountain top points, these will make up for his indiscretion in driving down the highway in our enormous van with the rear doors open. Luckily I could yell at him as he passed me as I couldnt use the 2 way as he was on the wrong channel. Here is Mike ready to go at one of the one way roadwork stops.

This was the downhill from the big climb road from left to right not the foot track at bottom

At the bottom was a beach full of big Elephant Seals.

The bike lane was pretty good on the final stage to San Simeon

We are now at San Simeon where we will tour the Hearst Castle on our first rest day. Washing almost done.
Stage win today was pedals only just beating M2 in a close sprint. Yellow goes to Pedals who will be pleased that Ferdy has washed it for him
Pedals. 200
Ferdy. 181
Goose 169
M2. 151
Wighty 136
Rocket. 62 who seems to have a strangle hold on 'red'
