Mt Hamilton climb

Today we rode the 30 km 4000ft of climbing to the Mt Hamilton observatory. Here are Michael (plus 'red' on his back) with Rod. The weather and terrain is very Australian except for warnings about rattle snakes and the constant soaring California condors ( which Are quite impressive). One came very close to me as I rode slowly out of a corner on the climb. Once again the drivers were all very courteous to bike riders and we have got used to riding on the right.

Here is Rod with Mt Hamilton in the background. It was a shared finish with Mike, pedals and the grand duke. Goose was a surprising fourth with rod and pw preserving their energy for later in the tour.

With today's surge from M2 he was able to wrestle the yellow jersey from Ferdy. Goose's performance with an uncharacteristic climb saw him relinquish 'red'. Points totals to date ( audited and correct) are:
M2 60
Pedals 59
Ferdy 53
Wighty 45
Goose. 38
Rocket 25
Tomorrow is a rest day, so more trips to bike shops, practice at getting bike boxes, luggage and bikes into the van as we have to commute 30 km to the official start out of Cupertino.
Thanks to Penny and Andrew for hosting an ex pats BBQ at Cupertino this afternoon. Ps right in the heart of Apple central.

Location:S 1st St,San Jose,United States
